It’s officially been announced: Amazon Prime Day 2024 will be July 16-17! I look forward to this every year for the deals and steals. Here are some home gym essentials from my wish list I’m excited to share with you. While I am thinking to get these during the Prime Day special, I may give in a grab a few early deals.

If you follow Sporting DR on Instagram, you know I’ve recently become a group fitness instructor and am working on my indoor cycling certification. While the local fitness center where I practice my routines is super close, sometimes I like the idea of being able to hop on a bike in my home for a quick workout or to practice my class. I’m not a stickler for having to buy everything new and actually just purchased this Echelon EX15 bike on Facebook marketplace. I love it! It rides ultra smooth and has enough levels of resistance(32) for all the different types of cycling workouts I like to do. The seat has 17 height adjustment levels, and the handle bars have 9 adjustment levels, so whether you are petite or tall, you’ll likely be able to get a good fit. It also connects to the Echelon Fit app on your phone or tablet via Bluetooth, so you can get metrics while you ride even if not doing an Echelon class. If you aren’t lucky enough to find this bike at a second hand price in your area, it’s definitely worth getting it from Amazon. If you don’t need or want a screen on your bike, this is a great Peloton alternative with an easier to swallow price tag. You don’t even have to wait until Prime Day, as the Echelon EX15 bike is currently listed for about $433(though that may change); that’s 13% off from it’s usual price of $500.

More Indoor Cycling Gear

I’m looking to complete a small home gym space to not only prep my indoor cycling routines, but also just to make working out on busy days a little more convenient. Other items I’m looking to get to round out my mini home gym are pedals with SPD clips for the bike I just bought, flooring and mats, a bench, and a dumbbell to barbell converter.

For the pedals I’ve narrowed it down these BV SPD cleat compatible pedals with toe cages. That way I can wear my cycling cleats, but my husband, or siblings when they visit, can just hop on in their tennis shoes. If you snag these pedals, you can feel good about supporting a small business, as well. The other reason I decided to go with these pedals as a favorite is because I’ve been doing well with their cleats which I self installed on my cycling shoes several months ago, so figured I’d try more of their gear.

Flooring and Bench

I’m shopping for something like this bench but foldable or more compact.

Since the loft where I’ll be working out at home is carpeted, I figured I would need to do more than just lay down a mat. While I haven’t settled on exactly the size yet, I’m thinking some combo of a plastic type material covered with a high density fitness/bike mat should work.

Because I’m not working with a lot of space, a sturdy but compact bench is a must. This one by the small business Finer Form quickly rose to the top of my list.

The ultimate way to get more out of your dumbbells

Keppi brand adjustable dumbbell, black weights with silver handle, adjustable from 5 to 25 pounds

One of the set of adjustable dumbbells I bought last year.

And finally for the piece de resistance…I have been thinking about whether or not to get these Jayflex Hyperbell Dumbbell Converters for months now. Last year, I bought a set of adjustable dumbbells to use at home. They adjust in weight from 5 to 25 pounds and don’t take a lot of space to store. They are probably one of my favorite pieces of workout equipment I’ve bought online to date. I’ve been wanting to try some at home kettle bell workouts but didn’t want to invest in a whole set of varying weight kettle bells. Somehow I stumbled across an ad for these converters and thought they were genius. It was like they, or the Google ad gods, were reading my mind. Whether I get just the kettlebell converter or both the kettlebell and barbell converter remains to be seen, but you can believe I’ll definitely be sharing pics on the gram.

Hopefully this post has provided you some inspiration for workout equipment you’re sure to get a great deal on this month and during Prime Day.

Happy shopping!

And as always, stay sporting.
